Determination of the content and formation of the concept of social pharmacy in the world and in Ukraine

Abstract

Aim. To define the concept of social pharmacy and understand its content in the countries of the world and in Ukraine.

Materials and methods. The scientific publications of domestic and foreign scholars were analyzed by the system-based analytical method of analysis.

Results. The article analyzes the content and preconditions for forming the concept of social pharmacy. The social pharmacy concept is widespread in the countries of Europe and North America; its preconditions are the human health dependence on social, economic and political changes led to the inclusion of elements of social and behavioral sciences in the system of pharmaceutical provision of the population. The main tasks and range of issues considered by social pharmacy are aimed at studying pharmaceutical problems in society and social problems in pharmacy. In general, social pharmacy integrates all aspects of pharmaceutical science and practice and includes a complex of activities aimed at increasing the medical, economic and social efficiency of the healthcare system and pharmaceutical provision.

Conclusions. The emergence and development of the social pharmacy concept in the domestic pharmaceutical sector of healthcare are associated with creation of the Department of Social Pharmacy at the National University of Pharmacy; based on the results of the international experience adaptation its employees have formulated the definition of social pharmacy as an integrative applied science that studies social relations within pharmaceutical activities in market conditions.
