Abstract

Aim. To study the need for wide use of nootropic drugs in both children and adult clinical practice in Ukraine; to conduct the conjuncture analysis of the Ukrainian market of nootropic drugs.

Materials and methods. The analysis of the content of text arrays, historical analysis, logical analysis, comparison and grouping were used. The level of concentration, the Herfindahl-Hirschman index and the adequacy coefficient of solvency were studied.

Results. The analysis of the range of nootropic drugs at the market of Ukraine has been carried out; the conjuncture and drugs having a higher demand have been studied. The analysis of the competitive environment of drugs of this segment has been carried out by studying the level of production concentration at the market. The level of market monopolization for nootropic drugs in the form of tablets and capsules based on synthetic and plant substances using the Herfindahl-Hirschman index has been studied. The adequacy coefficient of solvency of drugs based on Ginkgo biloba has been calculated, and the coefficient of concentration and monopolization of production of drugs based on Scutellaria baicalensis in the form of tablets and capsules has been studied.

Conclusions. According to the results of the study of the market conjuncture of nootropic drugs it has been determined that drugs of the groups of vinpocetine and mebicar are most in demand. The study of the Herfindahl-Hirschman index of nootropic drugs has shown that this market is not monopolized as a whole; however, the market of nootropic drugs of the plant origin is characterized by the monopoly position. Analyzing the adequacy of solvency of Ginkgo Biloba drugs it has been found that these drugs are most commonly available to the population by the price component. According to the market analysis conducted the expediency of development and introduction of drugs with the nootropic action into production of the Ukrainian enterprises based on Scutellaria baicalensis in the form of tablets and capsules has been substantiated.
