Aim. To determine and evaluate the current state of the consumer market for dietary supplements sold in domestic pharmacies in the Eastern and Central regions ofUkraine, as well as forecast the prospects for its development.
Materials and methods. Professional scientific publications, electronic databases of statistical information of the weekly “Apteka” for 2016-2018, the results of the own research were used as informational materials. In addition, data on sales in 114 pharmacies were analyzed in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region, as well as in Kyiv,Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk,Sumy,Donetsk, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr andKirovograd regions from September 2018 to September 2019. Such methods as marketing analysis, analytical, comparative, economic and statistical methods and method of generalization of information were used.
Results. The main problems related to the turnover of dietary supplements at the consumer market ofUkraine have been identified. The share of dietary supplements sold through pharmacies inUkraine (in particular – pharmacies located in the Central and Eastern regions of the country) has been determined in the total range of products. The segmentation of the dietary supplement market by drug forms, manufacturing companies and indication has been identified and illustrated. Based on the analysis of statistic data a forecast to increase the share of dietary supplements in the “pharmacy basket” to 5-6% in 2020-2021 has been made. The assumption has been made that if current trends continue, the volume of the pharmacy market of dietary supplements inUkraine in 2020 can be predicted at the level of UAH 5.2-5.5 billion.
Conclusions. The expediency of scientific and practical research in the direction of formation and implementation of the concept of quality assurance for dietary supplements during their life cycle, in particular by standardization of approaches to the development of the composition and technology, studies of properties, conditions of the production process and the quality control methods for dietary supplements, has been actualized.References
